COMMUNITY BASED HEALTH AND SANITATION

RLHP’s interventions are primarily focused on the communities of slums and underprivileged villages where people are denied the access to better health and sanitation facilities. The environment in the slums is not always conducive to good health. Hence a lot of importance has been given to community health, hygiene and sanitation. RLHP conducting different awareness, education and training programmes on personal and community hygiene, seasonal and communicable diseases, immunisation, women’s health, reproductive health and mental health, nutrition needs in general, of the children and adolescents, adolescent health, health camps etc.  through different mediums such as street plays, video shows, seminars etc. Apart from this conducting health melas and health clinic for those who doesn’t have an easy accessibility towards the PHCs. Malnourishment was one of the serious threat faced by the marginalised community due to the lack of awareness and unavailability of resources therefore, RLHP supported the community especially the malnourished children with nutritious food and proper awareness and psycho social support to the family

NUTRITION PROGRAMME

Through a general survey RLHP identify the malnourished children and provide proper orientation to the parents of these children regarding the importance providing of proper nutrition for the children and how the undernourishment affects their physical and mental health in the future. Through the regular care and nutritious food supplement we witnessed a significant improvement in the health of hundreds of children. It improves the physical as well as the mental health of the children.

REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH CARE TRAINING 
On reproductive health, RLHP providing training programmes in all the intervention areas. The sessions were led by experts’ social activists and doctors in the respective fields. All the sessions covered more than 2000 women and mothers. Personal Hygiene, Puberty & Menstruation, pregnancy care, post-delivery care, importance of Breast feeding, and the available Government health schemes etc were the major topics covered through the trainings. Through the training programme, enables the mothers to obtain the schemes and supports from the government. Apart from this, RLHP supports pregnant women with periodical check-ups and easy accessibility towards hospital settings. 

 VILLAGE HEALTH AND SANITATION COMMITTEE (VHSNC)

Health Care is very important for any community. Preventive measures on health & development were focused by creating Health Awareness on Women, Children and Community, incapacitating people through trainings in all villages and slums on personal hygiene, community hygiene, environment, seasonal and communicable diseases, immunisation, mental health, women specific health problems, Reproductive & Child Health, Providing Nutritious Care, Adolescent health, through different mediums (street play, video shows, and flash cards). Village Health Sanitation Committees (VHSNC) were formed and strengthened for the sustainable development of slums and villages. It also focused on linking & making a bridge between Govt. Health department with the community by organiSing different events like Health Mela, HIV AIDs day, World Breast Feeding day, World Health day, for accessing Govt. schemes. The VHSNC actively takes part in keeping their surroundings clean to prevent diseases and also lobbying & advocacy on accessing the Govt. Schemes like Toilets, Housing, Drainage and Drinking Water.
