EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO THE SPREAD OF COVID 19 PANDEMIC 

The whole world is witnessing the quick and widespread of a virus pandemic called COVID 19.
Whole the universe is on a bid to stride from the deadly viral pandemic. On the grounds of immediate increase in the number of patients the prime minister of India declared 40 days of complete lock down in the country to control the
quick spread of the viral attack. A major portion of the inhabitants had lost their jobs followed by the country shutdown and economical instability. People those who worked in unorganised sectors, migrant workers and other vulnerable families were started running out of food and other essential needs.  

RLHP identified the home quarantine needs of the marginalised communities of Mysore district. The prime focus was in distributing food items and other most essential commodities like hand wash, Sanitiser etc.  along with the distribution, extended psycho social support and Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for children to continue the joyful learning even in the long span of off schools. Furthermore, RLHP extended our supporting hands for the migrant families, farmers and their children from Gundulpete, Chamrajnagar district. The emergency response initiatives have reached more than 4000 families of Mysore slums and villages with grocery kits, around 850 migrant workers met their basic requirements such as food, health care materials etc. and 400 farmers were supported with saplings and seeds to resume their agriculture. In addition to this, around 2000 children were provided with educational materials for Individual Education Programmes (IEP)  

RELIEF AND REHABILITATION FOR THE VICTIMS OF KERALA FLOOD 2018 

Our neighbouring state Kerala witnessed an unexpected flood havoc in last year. Torrential rain ravaged the state, causing floods and landslides in all 14 districts, around 5.4 million people were affected and nearly 433 people lost their lives. Immediately followed by the flood RLHP extended our service to Wayanad, Kerala with relief materials such as food, clothes, medicines, educational materials for children, hygiene kits, water storage containers, mattresses, mosquito nets, fencing nets for well, rehabilitation of water sources, child friendly anganwadi, grow bags with vegetable seeding etc.

Alappuzha was one of the most affected districts in Kerala with the disaster. RLHP supported the victims with relief materials in Kainakary, Champakulam, Pulimkunnu, Muttar Gram Panchayaths such as mattress, water storage tanks, grow bags, kitchen utensils, chicken, fishing nets etc. Apart from this, RLHP implemented an eight months project named “Flood recovery support to the affected families in Alappuzha district” which aimed at the rehabilitation and recovery of the flood victims. The prime focus was on the livelihood, WASH and Child protection. Along with this, we conducted different psycho social support care programmes for children, life skill trainings for adolescents, training programmes for schools and anganwady teachers, PRI members etc. Nearly 4000 families were supported through the initiative.

REHABILITATION PROGRAMME FOR THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS

RLHP initiated a recovery and rehabilitation programme in 2004 for the Tsunami affected communities of Poombukar, Neidhavasal and Thenpathi of Nagapattinam District in Tamil Nadu State. The prime focus was on immediately rehabilitating the livelihood and income generation activities of the inhabitants. Apart from this, given priority for the health & sanitation and the psychological well-being of the community, on this aspect, RLHP extended regular health camps, health education, door to door counselings, psycho-social support to children and women, Psycho social support for children, capacity building for youth.
